q2quest. I would recommend getting the seat mentioned and also lowering your suspension. A spacer can be placed in the rear shock and you can have the front forks worked on too to lower the bike an inch to an inch and a half. It feels alot better for average height people and handles better too.

The seat height number is intimidating, I'll give you that. Then again, my previous Tenere was only half an inch lower and weighted over 120 pounds more than the 690.

I have just changed from the 990 to a 2012 690 Enduro R. The 990 had the KTM gel seat mounted, which I think takes 2cm off the height officially, but I didn't fell much different. The problem is the weight! That was the reason why I got the 690.
